HERMAN & THE HERMITS
PACKAGE DESIGN. ILLUSTRATION.
Working with friends.
While on a trip to Ventura, Califorina I had the opportunity to visit my buddy Philly, head brewer at Ventura Coast Brewing Company. We shared some beverages with friends and got to chatting about all things package design and beer.
The collaboration inspiration.
Fast forward to a few months later, I saw Philly post on Instagram about a collaboration brew he was working on with his buddies at Living Haus, Wagon Wheel, and Native Son. Seeing this inspired me. Doing projects with friends is so rad and fun so I thought Iād make something of it.
Moodboards & ideation.
I began my process with a little brainstorm. Two visual directions that I was inspired by included:
GROOVY CALI VIBES
and BOLD & TATTED
The design & details.
After some further ideation on this design, I gravitated towards both visual directions. The theme of this beer became traditional tattoo meets 70s cowboy.
I also took some visual inspiration from the breweries involved in the collaboration: florals from Living Haus, cowboy western vibes from Wagon Wheel, and all the funk from Native Son.
This was a fun one šŗ
